The old-timers had a saying… “If you are doing something, and God isn’t in it… stop doing it.”

I find myself reflecting on that statement alot, these days…

There comes a point in every person’s life when one cannot be content with doing something just to do something (even if you think it might be a good thing). It is not enough to simply be active… one’s actions must bring some results.

There has to be fruit from the labor — or the labor is fruitless.

More and more, I find myself struggling with the question of fruitfulness — and whether all my hours of efforts in maintaining this blog are accomplishing anything worthwhile for the Kingdom.

It is the doubt… and the not knowing… that has become an ever-present issue in my life.

So, for an indeterminate time, I have decided to stop writing these posts.

Perhaps, I will continue writing (at some future date) if and when I feel that it really is something that God desires for me to do.

Until then, thank you to all of you who have read my work (and a special thanks to all of you who have posted comments and questions). I pray God’s faithfulness to surround you all the days of your lives. May God richly bless you as you seek His Heart!   M. A.

P.S. I will continue my book posts until all the chapters are posted…

  1. For what its worth brother I would like to share a few words with you…

What I have found, is that we will never really know the circles of influence and how far our Witness for Christ will reach around the world… but you have a gift of writing, it is a talent not everyone has, and with your blog you never really know to what parts of the world your words will reach. It might be worth thinking, if your blog, and the hours you have spent on it… was the water needed to help just ONE seed grow into a faith in Christ… if just ONE person accepts Jesus as their savior, wouldn’t it all be worth it?

Another thing you might consider is reaching out to other Christian Bloggers and collaborate on some projects… I have done a couple and they are very fulfilling! In fact, if you ever want to collaborate reach out to me! I would be honored.

In my short time in this area of ministry, I have met some very cool and amazing Christians doing God’s work… and I count you among them. I have enjoyed your work and want to encourage you to stay on the path.

If your decision has already been set in stone, then I understand. I will be praying for you brother.

    • Keith, Thanks so much for your kind words. It is so good to hear encouraging words. And you are not the only one… It means a lot when someone takes the time to just reach out and speak their heart. Much appreciated. Nothing is set in stone, but I do want to make sure of God’s leading before jumping back in. Would greatly appreciate your prayers! Thanks again… you are true brother in Christ! M. A.

  2. I understand. I remember when I started Daily Hopeful, I was so frustrated because it was definitely off to a wobbly start for sure. You see, I had my vision of what I thought the blog should be, and God had His – He just did not feel led to tell me His plans in advance!

I nearly threw in the towel, but some kind folks came alongside me and offered encouragement. And God has proven to be faithful! He let me know that I was getting too caught up in the numbers – I was being tasked with obeying Him alone. It was clear that even if no one read my blog, I was to keep writing (and I stopped looking at my blog stats many months ago!)

If you don’t feel like you have received clear guidance from the Lord, then waiting may be prudent. However, if you have not been released from it by Him, then I encourage you to tread carefully. Perhaps the enemy is trying to discourage you…? That was certainly his tactic with me, but our situations may be different.

Seek God’s wisdom, obey whatever He tells you to do, and then write from the heart. In my own personal experience, the Lord has been incredibly specific about the format and direction of my blogging, and I have a very narrow scope within which I’m able to operate: daily gratitude and prayer, and then daily hope. Written anonymously. Then nothing else, in terms of direction.

Each day, I pray and the guidance comes, and He shows me what to write. He’s given me some latitude with quotes, Bible verses, and a little bit of humor, but even those approaches came from Him, rather than me.

Hang in there! Please do not give up yet. The best may well be yet to come! ✝️
